History
Our buildings were constructed in 1975 and completely remodeled within the past 6 years. Our current Property Owners purchased Normandy Park Villa in 1998 and immediately set about to make improvements. They constructed a pitched roof over the bedrooms; installed double-paned windows with screens, new appliances, new countertops, new carpeting, and new or refinished cabinets. They gave the buildings a new coat of paint inside and out, enlarged and remodeled the laundry room, replaced fencing, and added attractive landscaping. Improvements have continued throughout the years.
Owners & Management
Normandy Park Villa is locally owned by a private partnership in the Seattle area. The Resident Manager, Janis, has lived on-site for nearly twenty years, and has been the manager for nine. Since this is her home, Janis takes a personal interest in caring for the property and its residents. She knows all her neighbors by name, and treats everyone warmly and with respect and fairness. Janis is highly knowledgeable about rental housing issues and laws, and teaches landlord training classes all over the state. She "runs a tight ship" when it comes to issues like noise, drugs, and criminal activity, and has an extremely good reputation in the neighborhood.
Layout Normandy Park Villa consists of seven buildings constructed in a U-shape around an open courtyard area. Each building contains eight apartment homes (four 1-bedroom units, and four 2-bedroom units). The D-building also includes the office (which adjoins the Manager's apartment) and our only studio apartment.
In our central courtyard area, we offer lawns and gardens, a play court with basketball hoop, a conveniently-located 24-hour laundry room, and a heated swimming pool.
Play Court & Swimming Pool One of the unique features of Normandy Park Villa is that we welcome people of all ages including children! Our grounds feature a play court with basketball hoop, where we allow bikes, scooters, skateboards, and rollerblades, and other wheeled toys in addition to various kinds of ball playing. Since the play court is located in the center of our community, it is completely separate from driveways and parking lots , so people of all ages can enjoy the use of the play court without being concerned about the danger of cars.
We also have a heated swimming pool! You and your guests are welcome to enjoy the pool during the daytime hours of 10 AM to 9 PM June through August.
Laundry Facilities Our 24-hour laundry facility is located in the center of our community. This well-lit amenity features coin-operated washers and dryers (new in March of 2005), as well as a folding table.
The Apartment Interiors Each apartment home has a private balcony with a view of the courtyard area. Second-floor units have cathedral ceilings in the living room and dining room, giving the apartment a "lofty" ambience. Ground-floor units have an additional coat closet in the living room. Our bedrooms are HUGE (approximately 12' X 14' and 12' X 10') with wall-to-wall closets in each bedroom. Kitchens are remodeled with all appliances (including dishwasher and garbage disposal) with adjoining dining area featuring a large picture window. Bathrooms are bright with windows to provide natural light and ample ventilation.
The apartment is phone and cable ready with phone jacks located in every room except the bathroom. High speed internet access is available through the phone and cable companies, so you have lots of options! Independent baseboard electric heaters are available in each room, so you can heat or not heat each room individually, as needed.
Parking Residents enjoy free parking in our four parking areas (front and back parking lots with strips of parking located along each side driveway). Since there are plenty of spaces for our residents and guests, we have never needed assigned parking; and we allow two or more vehicles per household.
Utilities Water, sewer and garbage are included FREE with your rent, so you only pay for your electricity, phone, and cable.
No-Smoking Policy We do not allow smoking inside any of our buildings. However, smokers may feel free to smoke on balconies, as long as they use an ash tray.
Pets We welcome indoor cats with payment of an extra deposit (refundable at move-out, if there is no cat-related damage). We do not permit dogs. Other animals are considered on a case-by-case basis.
